What to pack for dry camping near Bend
New paragraph
A SIMPLE PACKING LIST FOR A COMFORTABLE STAY
Dry camping gives you the space to settle into the high desert, with a few comforts close by. At Roadhouse Ranch & Camp, campsites have no electric, water or sewer hookups. Guests can use shared drinking water, hot showers and flush toilets. Pack for the campsite itself to be self-contained.
WATER AND POWER
Bring enough water for your usual camp routine and containers you can carry or refill at the shared water source. Charge phones, lights and camera batteries before you arrive. If your RV depends on electricity, plan your battery capacity and check the property's current generator rules before bringing one. Do not assume a power pedestal is available.
SHADE AND WEATHER
Central Oregon days can be sunny and nights can feel much cooler. Pack layers, sunscreen, hats and a rain layer. A shade tarp or canopy can make time at camp more comfortable in warm weather; one guest specifically recommended extra shade. Secure anything light against wind and check the forecast before leaving home.
SLEEP AND ROAD SOUND
The ranch sits beside Highway 97. Some guests barely notice the sound, while others hear traffic at night. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs and ask which available site is farther from the road. A sleeping pad, warm bedding and a small light make a tent stay easier.
FOOD AND SHARED SPACES
Bring your own food, cooler and basic cooking supplies. The covered gazebo and communal grill are useful gathering spots, but check current availability and fire rules before counting on them. The private hot showers are a welcome finish after a day exploring Bend or Smith Rock.
BEFORE YOU BOOK
Check the listing for your exact site, including pad dimensions, maximum vehicle length and slide-out rules. If you are unsure about fit or what to pack, call (541) 224-6566.
